山茶花咲くころ

山茶花（サザンカ）は、ツバキ科ツバキ属の常緑広葉樹です。

同じツバキ属の椿（ツバキ）が花ごと落ちるのとは違い、花弁が1枚ごとに散るのが椿との見分けのポイントになります。

吹田市片山公園には山茶花の大木があり、満開の時期には甘い香りがします。他に華やかさのない厳冬期に心に安らぎを与えてくれます。

Season of the sasanqua blooming

Sasanquas are evergreen broadleaf trees of the Camellia genus in the Theaceae family.

Unlike camellias, which are in the same genus, which fall off the whole flower, sasanquas fall off one petal at a time, which is how they can be distinguished from camellias.

There is a large sasanqua tree in Katayama Park in Suita City, and when in full bloom it gives off a sweet fragrance. It brings peace of mind during the severe winter when there is nothing else glamorous.
