方違神社 粽祭 Chimaki Festival of Houchigai shrine
2017年（平成29年）5月31は大阪府堺市の方違神社｢粽祭｣の撮影に伺いました。
方違神社の所在地は南海電車 堺東駅から徒歩5分程度の場所です。
公式HPによれば、神社の起源は古く紀元前90年(崇神天皇8年)勅願により創建されたといわれています。
いわれは、摂津住吉郡、河内丹治比郡、和泉大鳥郡の三国の境目であることから「三国山」、「三国の衢」、「三国丘」といわれ何処の国にも属さない、また方位の無い清地であるという考え方によって、この地の御土と菰の葉でつくった粽は悪い方位を祓うという信仰を以って参拝者で賑わっています。
粽祭は昔、神功皇后が方違の祓をされた故事から毎年5月31日に行われる例大祭とのことで、一年間授与される粽をご神前に奉る特殊神事です。
私は午前10時頃に到着し、社務所にご挨拶をしてから神社まわりや境内の様子を撮影致しました。
午後12時頃には当日授与される粽をもらう順番取りのために列ができ始めました。
現在本殿は「方違神社 創建2100年記念 社殿造営事業」として工事が行われています。
2018年（平成30年）1月に竣工予定とのことです。
午後1時から神職、氏子一同参列のもと例大祭が催行されました。
午後2時頃から稚児によるお砂持神事が催行されました。
この神事は11人の幼女たちが稚児として奉仕するものなので、近年は一部の関係者を除いて催行される場所内は立ち入り禁止となっています。
11人の稚児たちは神職、猿田彦、巫女に先導されながら、約10ｍ程度の間を天秤棒に御砂をのせて運びます。
慣れない衣装を着て、天秤棒で砂を運ぶことは幼女にはなかなか大変な役目なので何度か往復すると足元が危うい感じがします。
今年の稚児たちは気温が上がり真夏並みの暑さの中黙々と役割を果たしていました。
愛らしい幼女たちが真剣に奉仕する姿は清らかで神々しさを感じさせます。
神事が終了して稚児がそろって記念撮影をして参加者は帰途につきました。

Chimaki Festival of Houchigai shrine
I went to the Houchigai shrine in Osaka to shooting the Chimaki-matsuri Festival at May 31 2017. It takes about 5 minutes from Sakaihigashi station of Nankai line.
According to the official HP, it is said that the origin of the shrine was founded in BC '90 by imperial prayer.
They say that here is the holy place, because of this shrine is placed on the border of the ancient area name Settsu, Kawachi and Izumi. So that the Chimaki is made of Zizania latifolia leaves and sands of here which has the quality of being sacred.
It is the regularly held festival which takes place on May 31 every year from story of the history of a festival is that Empress Jingu is the purification of the wrong direction, Chimaki-matsuri Festival is a special ritual, the Chimaki which will be awarded for one year that has been dedicated to before the gods.
I arrived at about 10:00 am and greetings to shrine office, and then I have shot around the shrine.
It has begun to be a column for order up to get a Chimaki about 12:00 pm.
The regularly held festival has been held all members of people under the protection of the local deity of this shrine at 1:00 pm.
The Osunamochi-shinji Ritual by children in a festival procession have been held at 2:00 pm.
This ritual because they are a little girl as a children in a festival procession, it has become off-limits in recent years exception of some staffs.
The 11 children in a festival procession were caring "osuna (Holy Sand)" on a pole between about 10m, and they walked after the priests, the Sarutahiko (Shinto god) and the shrine maiden.
It was very hot like a summer, but children taking part in a festive procession of this year played a role. The little girls worked very hard as the children in a festival procession that is pretty and brave.
After ritual is completed, children in a festival procession was took a commemorative photo and all participants went to home.
