南禅寺は臨済宗南禅寺派大本山の寺院で京都五山および鎌倉五山の上におかれる別格扱いの寺院で、日本の全ての禅寺のなかで最も高い格式をもっていると言われています。南禅院は南禅寺の別院で南禅寺の発祥地と言われています。地下鉄蹴上駅から徒歩約5分の位置です。

庭園は夢窓疎石が作庭したと伝わり、上池である曹源池をかこむ池泉回遊式庭園です。

新緑の時期には何度も参拝していましたが、機会があわず今まで降雪した時期には参拝できませんでした。

私が参拝した時にはお寺の関係者の方しかおられず、雪と日本庭園の素晴らしい調和の美がそこにありました。

私はここは日本で最も美しい池泉回遊式庭園の一つと思います。

Beautiful snowy Zen Garden

Snowy Japanese Garden(from south side of Sogen-chi Pond)

They say that Nanzen-ji (Established 1291) Temple has the highest formality in all Japanese temples belonging to the Zen sect and Nanzen-in (Established 1287) Temple is the birthplace of Nanzen-ji Temple. There is a temple walked about 5 minutes from Keage Metro Station. The garden created by Muso Soseki features a circular promenade centered around Sogen-chi Pond.

When it is fresh green season, you can see the beautiful fresh green maple leaves and you can see the reflection of the beautiful fresh green maple leaves on the pond at the same time.

I had visited to many times during the fresh green season, but unfortunately, I hadn't during the snowfall season because I didn't have the opportunity.

When I have visited, there were only people involved in the temple, and the beauty of the wonderful harmony between the snow and the Japanese garden was there.

I think that is one of the most beautiful Japanese gardens (with a pond) in Japan.
