2023年（令和5年）6月14は大阪府大阪市住吉区の住吉大社「御田植神事｣の撮影に伺いました。

住吉大社は古来　摂津国 (せっつのくに＝大阪府北西部と兵庫県南東部を占める旧国名) の中でも、由緒が深く、信仰が篤い神社として、「一の宮」という社格で人々に親しまれてきたそうです。

住吉大社といえば大阪で最も人出がある初詣先で、期間中に約260万人が訪れる全国的にみてもトップ１０に入る人気です。所在地は大阪府大阪市住吉区住吉2-9-89で南海電車　住吉大社駅から徒歩５分程度の場所です。

御田植神事は穀物の豊かな実りを祈願する神聖な行事です。伝承によれば、神功皇后摂政11年（211年）住吉大社ご鎮座の際に神功皇后が住吉大社の神田を定め、長門の国から植女を召したことから始まっているといわれています。毎年6月14日に行われ、昭和54年2月24日国の重要無形民俗文化財に指定されました。

植え付けされる苗には、強力な穀霊が宿るものとして考えられていたそうです。田植えに際して音楽を奏で、歌をうたい踊りや舞を演じるのは、田や植え付けする苗に宿る穀物の力を増やすためといわれています。

新型コロナ感染症蔓延の影響で2019年（令和元年）を最後に一部の神事を除いて行われませんでした。今回は4年ぶりの従来どおりの内容でのご催行となりました。

様々なことで久しぶりであり、行われなかった3年間は人々の暮らしや参加者を大きく変容させたことを実感できました。

私が参加している住吉踊保存後援会は童女と呼ばれる小学生以下の女児が中心です。3年の月日は成長期である彼女たちにとってとても長く大きな人員構成の変化となりました。幸いにも参加人数の大幅な減少は避けられました。

お昼前後に集まり始めた童女たちは、午後１時頃から奴、風流武者、雑兵、楽人、宮司様他神職の方々、八乙女、稚児、御稔女、植女、御神水、替植女、奉耕者、田植踊、住吉踊の順番に神館から出て本殿祭に向かいました。

祭儀の後、行列は神田に向かいました。

神田に入ってきた行列は周囲を一周した後、神田での祭儀が始まりました。

修祓、早苗授与、田舞、神田代舞、風流武者行事、棒打合戦、田植踊、住吉踊と行われます。

住吉踊の順番になり私も一緒に神田を囲む道へ参進しました。

Elegant Samurai Shinto Ritual

Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine has been most popular to people and called "Ichinomiya of Settsu". They say "Settsu" in ancient that is the old country which accounts for northwest of Osaka Prefecture and southeastern of Hyogo Prefecture.

Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine is a popular of the top 10 of the New Year's visit to a shrine of Japan. That is located at Sumiyoshi-Yard, Osaka-City, and that about 5 minutes’ walk from Sumiyoshi Taisha station of Nankai train.

The Otaue (Rice planting) Shinto Ritual as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Asset that is held at June 14 in every year. And it is a special event to pray for a good harvest. They think that the young plant of the rice has the spiritual power, they are singing and dancing to make that power strong.

They say that it had started when Empress Jingo call the Ueme (Rice planting woman) from Nagato (old name of Yamaguchi Prefecture) in 211.

They think that the young plant of the rice, which is granted from Shinto priest at the front of the main shrine, have the spiritual power.

Due to the spread of COVID-19, after 2019 hasn't held, except for some Shinto rituals. Therefore, it was the first time in four years that the festival was held as before in this year.

It was the first time in a long time because of various reasons, and I was able to realize that the three years that were not held had greatly changed people's lives and the participants.

I participate in a group of "Sumiyoshi Odori Dance". that is centered on girls who are in elementary school or younger, who called "Dou-jo". 3 years is a very long time for them, who are in their growth period, and has caused a big change in the personnel composition. Fortunately, a drastic drop in the number of participants was avoided.

"Yakko", "Furyumusha" and the others went to the main shrine festival from the Shin-kan hall at 1:00pm.

In this ritual, the Shinto priest passed to the rice sprouts to "Ueme"(=Rice planting lady). And "Furyumusha" (=Samurai) was dancing the ritual dance.

After all rituals, they went to "Shinden" (= Rice field of Shinto God) .

After the procession that entered "Shinden" went around the perimeter, the ritual in "Shinden" began.

After several ritual was held, it became the order of the Sumiyoshi dance I also went to the road surrounding the "Shinden" (= Rice fields) together to shoot.
