蝋梅満開のころ

蝋梅（ロウバイ）は、ロウバイ科ロウバイ属の落葉低木で、梅の一種ではありません。

花期は梅が咲く時期より早く、先に満開を迎えます。甘い香りがありますので花があまりない厳寒期に癒しを与えてくれます。

大阪城梅林は大阪城公園内にあり、JR森之宮駅、JR大阪公演駅から各徒歩で10分程度です。

私は初めて訪れたのですが、今年の寒さから梅の開花が約2週間遅れていて、一部の早咲きの品種を除いてこれからの状態でした。

逆に、蝋梅は満開時期でしたので晴天の午後の日光に照らされた美しくいい香りにつつまれて寒さを忘れるひとときでした。

Season of the winter sweet full blooming

Wintersweet is a deciduous shrub of the genus Calycanthaceae in the family Chimonanthus, but is not a type of Ume.

It flowers earlier than Ume, reaching full bloom first. Its sweet fragrance provides a soothing sensation during the intense cold when there are not many flowers.

Osaka Castle Plum Grove is located within Osaka Castle Park, about a 10-minute walk from JR Morinomiya Station or JR Osaka-Jyo-Koen Station.

That was my first time to visiting, and due to the very cold weather this year the Ume blossoms were about two weeks late, except for some early-blooming varieties, almost have yet to bloom.

On the other hand, the wintersweet was in full bloom, so it was a moment to forget the cold as I was enveloped in its beautiful, pleasant fragrance in the sunlight of a clear afternoon.
