私は「デジタル浮世絵」といたしまして日本の伝統的な祭礼や日本庭園を題材とした作品制作をしてきました。

この度、新シリーズといたしまして「女性の美しさ」を表現した「美人画」制作を開始することといたしました。

躑躅の候

今までに何度も「制作を開始しよう」と思ったのですが、制作過程で「日本の伝統衣装である和装の女性を撮影する」ため、人物、ロケーション、和服（着物）、着付けが必要です。全てを用意して制作を開始するにはハードルが高く、今回やっと制作開始に至りました。

美人画とは、女性の美しさを描いた絵画のことで、特に日本の浮世絵や日本画におけるジャンルを指します。単に容姿だけでなく、内面的な美しさや、その時代の美意識、流行、文化などを反映しているのが特徴です。

美人画は、江戸時代の浮世絵から発展し、明治以降の日本画にも受け継がれたジャンルです。特に浮世絵の美人画は、当時の流行や風俗を反映し、女性の姿を通じて文化を伝える役割も果たしました。また、明治期を中心に活躍した上村松園、鏑木清方は明治風俗として、都会的な美人画を描きました。

This time, I have decided to start a new series of ”Bijin-ga” (Artwork of beautiful women ) that express the "Japanese feminine beauty".

I have been thought many times about starting the project, but to photograph women in ”Kimono” (traditional Japanese clothing), the process requires a model, a location, a "kimono", and "kimono" dressing, and it was a hurdle to prepare everything before starting the making, so I finally started the project this time.

“Bijin-ga” is a painting depicting the feminine beauty, and it is a genre in Japanese ukiyo-e and Nihonga. In Japan, it is not just appearance that is important, but also inner beauty, and it is characterized by reflecting the aesthetic sense, trends, and culture of the time.

"Bijin-ga" have been a genre that developed from ukiyo-e of the Edo era and was passed down to Japanese painting after the Meiji era. Particularly, “Ukiyo-e Bijin-ga" have been reflected the trends and customs of the time, and played a role in conveying culture through the appearance of women.

Additionally, Uemura Shōen (1875-1949) and Kaburagi Kiyokata (1878-1972), who have been active mainly during the Meiji period, painted urban portraits of beautiful women, representing the customs of the Meiji era.

This time, I have chosen "Beautiful Changes" as the theme of my "Bijin-ga”.

I aim to express "the beauty of the changing seasons" as well as "the beauty revealed in women's gestures," and in particular "the fleeting beauty of women with the colors of nature by the changing seasons."
