毎日鞍馬寺公式SNSでお寺の積雪の様子と天気予報を確認して、2026年1月31日に2013年以来久しぶりに雪景色の鞍馬寺へ参拝しました。

鞍馬寺は標高230mの叡山電鉄鞍馬駅から標高410mの本殿金堂まで標高差180mを一気に登る意外と過酷な道のりです。鞍馬駅を下車したところから激しい降雪がありましたが、急な上り坂を行くと汗だくになりました。

公式ホームへージの『鞍馬蓋寺縁起』によれば、～（以下引用）奈良時代末期の宝亀元年(770)奈良・唐招提寺の鑑真和上(688~763年)の高弟・鑑禎上人は、正月4日寅の夜の夢告と白馬の導きで鞍馬山に登山、鬼女に襲われたところを毘沙門天に助けられ、毘沙門天を祀る草庵を結びました。（引用終）～とあります。

2018年9月4日に近畿地方に大きな被害をもたらした台風21号による倒木災害の影響により、叡山電車は全線復旧まで52日間にわたっての運休を余儀なくされ、鞍馬寺の奥の院参道は11月下旬まで通行止めになっていました。それから7年が経過しましたが途中の参道では未だ倒木の処理がされていました。

本殿金堂前には積雪をみようと多くの参拝者がいました。その中で娘さんが雪遊びをしていたご家族に声をかけて撮影をさせていただきました。

帰りは初めてとなるケーブルカーに乗って一気に下山して帰路につきました。

Snowy Kurama Temple in 2026

Every day, I have been checking the snow accumulation by Kurama Temple's official social media and weather forecast. So, I visited Kurama Temple in the snow for after a long time on 31th January 2026. That was so hard of the road to Kurama Temple. I was climbing 180 meters in elevation from Eizan Electric Railway Kurama Station, at an elevation of 230 meters, to the main temple at 410 meters. Therefore, I drenched in sweat despite snowfall.

From the official homepage “Auspicious tales of Kurama Temple", (Quoted below)”In 770 at the end of the Nara period. Gantei, a senior disciple of Ganjin (688ー763) of Toshodaiji Temple in Nara, climbed Mount Kurama at night, guided by a white horse and a revelation in adream.

Because of fallen trees caused by Typhoon No. 21, which caused major damage in the Kinki region on September 4 2018, the Eizan Electric Railway was forced to suspend service for 52 days until the entire line was restored, and the approach to Kurama Temple's inner sanctuary was closed until late November. Seven years have passed since then, but fallen trees were still being cleared along the approach to the temple.

When I arrived in front of the main temple, there were many worshippers there who had come to see the snow. Among them, I asked out to a family whose daughter was playing in the snow and took some photos.

On the way back, l took the cable car for the first time and went straight down the mountain.
