Yabusame was originally called "kisha" or "umayumi" and was performed as a courtly event. Later, when it became a samurai event, it came to be called "yabusame." However, at our Shimogamo Shrine, the archers wear the attire of court nobles (military officials) and yabusame with courtly  movements, so it is also referred to as "kisha," as it was a courtly event. rest omitted.

This time, I was as a member of the press, I photographed from a designated area near by 3rd target. While it was possible to photograph the "First Target" and "Second Target" 200m away with a 100-400mm telephoto zoom lens, the relative positions of the targets difficult to allow for a clear visual confirmation. In addition, due to the relative positions of the photographing area and the horse track, "panning" shots were not possible.

The Yabusame Shinto Ritual were then continued until the archers in court attire finish around 2:45 PM.

Although the weather forecast predicted a 90% or higher chance of rain from 3 PM onwards, fortunately, it did not rain from 1 PM until the completion of the all of Shinto rituals at 3 PM.

I thank you for everyone of this festival.
